Hollyoaks 'confirms' identity of phone thief in huge shock

Hollyoaks airs an intriguing development regarding the mysterious phone thief next week, as a shock accusation is made.

The teens of the eponymous village, as viewers know, have been taking part in the Earl Of Dee awards, undertaking all sorts of tasks under the watchful eyes of Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard), Jack Osborne (Jimmy McKenna) and Pearl Anderson (Dawn Hope).

Things, however, have taken quite a turn, with a number of the school kids’ phones having vanished amid the challenge, with Shing Lin Leong (Izzie Yip) being the first to voice her concern earlier this month when her device disappeared.

While a number of residents were quick to disbelieve her claims that someone took it, Shing Lin knows full well there’s more going on here than meets the eye, and the teens well and truly putting their foot down next week.

Tony is tasked by Rafe Harcourt (Chris Gordon) with covering for him to host the final week of the Earl Of Dee challenge.

The pub landlord asks Beau Ramsey (Jon-Paul Bell) if he’d like to be his assistant but Beau isn’t so sure – that is, until he catches a glimpse of the outfit his dad will have to wear, which leads to him agreeing to take part!

The workshop is set up but, before the task can get underway, the teens refuse to participate until they get their phones back.

Tony quickly tries to diffuse the situation but the teens hold their ground, revealing that they believe Rafe is responsible for the theft!

But is the Earl really the thief?

That remains to be seen but, with everyone refusing to take part, Tony decides to complete the Earl Of Dee challenge himself! The teens, meanwhile, vow not to drift apart when they get their new timetables.

Lucas, however, watches on alone.

Beau decides to take matters into his own hands, coming up with a way to get the teens to take part and help Tony out, but things take yet another turn when Tony realises that his phone has also gone missing!

Despite this, the councillor does his best to refocus the teens – who sneak off during a group meditation session – suggesting litter picking as their next task. Not keen on the idea, they refuse to participate, leaving Tony well and truly at his wits end as he fails like a failure.

Subsequent scenes then see the Earl Of Dee Award finale arrive, but there’s more shocks to come as the campsite is totally wrecked.

One to watch: Friday August 25 at 7pm on E4.
