Good Morning Britain presenter announces extended break from the show

Good Morning Britain regular presenter Adil Ray has revealed he won't be featuring on the show for the foreseeable future as he takes an extended break.

From Monday to Wednesday every week GMB is hosted by former BBC star Susanna Reid who is alongside a rotation of other presenters including Adil Ray, Ed Balls and Richard Madeley while Ben Shepard comes into the fray on Thursdays.

However, this will not be the case for a while as Adil Ray, 49, took to social media to share that he will be taking an extended break from the panel.

Adil, who is also best known for his acting in the BBC show Citizen Khan which he co-wrote and starred in, has been a much-loved member of daytime TV for many years.

He first joined the fray as a presenter on GMB in 2018 after stalwart presenter Piers Morgan left the show following a backlash against comments he made about Megan Markle and her notorious interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Taking to social media to announce his extended break from the programme, Adil announced: "Back @gmb on Thursday and Friday this week from 6.

"Then not on for a while so don’t miss out. Roll up roll up! While stocks last! It’s a bargain!"

In response, many fans flocked to the comments to share their love for Adil as one commenter wrote: "Wish you were on every day!"

While another fan stated: "Yayy can't wait love a bit of Adil in the morning x"

Another fan who will be tuning in to his show on Thursday while recovering from an operation added: "Recovering from surgery last week, so up early. Great news you are on Thursday and Friday – something nice to look forward to at the end of the week. Lots of love from me and the knee."

Legendary host Susanna has been away from the show as well in recent weeks as she is on her summer break.

In her absence, Kate Garraway, Ranvir Singh and Charlotte Hawkins have been taking the presenting reins and stepping into her shoes.

Adil also announced last month that the popular gameshow Lingo, which he hosts, will be returning for its fourth series, but this time there is something different.

Taking to social media, Adil shared: "Exciting news. @itv have commissioned a fourth series of @lingotv_uk.

"This time we’re going to play winner stays on! To see if the contestants really are that good and to see if they can go home with some serious money!

"And if you can’t wait for that don’t worry brand new episodes of series 3 will be on the telly very soon."
