Richard Madeley upset Good Morning Britain viewers with his “patronising” comment while discussing the upcoming United Nations meeting set to take place today (April 5).
During Tuesday’s instalment of the popular ITV morning show, the 65-year-old and his co-host Kate Garraway welcomed viewers back as they discussed the latest news headlines.
The pair caught up with Shadow Culture Secretary Lucy Powell to discuss why the UK hasn’t enforced tougher sanctions and provided further military support.
Before the Labour MP signed off from the morning shows, the dad-of-two asked whether she would be tuning in for the historic meeting at 5pm today.
He asked: “Just very quickly, will you be sitting in front of the television at about five o’clock to watch this historic moment in the UN?”
To which she replied: “If I can juggle that around making my children’s tea and all my various childcare demands then I will.”
It was at this point that Richard infuriated viewers as he ended their catch up saying: “There speaks a working woman”.
