Former vicarage next to ruined Cornish castle is on sale for £1.65million

A historic former vicarage that sits next to the ruins of Tintagel Castle has gone up for sale.

And for a tidy £1.65milllion, it could be yours.

The Old Vicarage is a Grade II listed property just 650 yards away from cliffs and coastal path.

It’s also nestled close to a famous Cornish castle which is reputed to have ties to Arthurian legend, with some stories, like a version of Arthur’s conception, set there.

The old vicarage has been run as a luxury B&B and has been renovated in a ‘labour of love’ by the current owners.

The property for sale includes the main house, a separate three-bedroom cottage, three acres of gardens and historic features such as a dovecote and a 14th-century chapel.

There’s also a separate stone barn – planning permission for it to be converted is available to purchase separately.

The sellers previously undertook a lot of work to bring the property into the modern-day, including replacing windows and doors, updating the plumbing, adding a bespoke kitchen, underfloor heating, damp proofing, repointing exterior walls and replacing the chimney stack.

In total, the cottage, chapel and main house has 4,736 sq ft between them, with the main house boasting 2,948 sq ft.

It’s comprised of a living room, dining room, conservatory, kitchen, utility room and four bedrooms – all with en suite bathrooms.

The partly-wooded surrounding greenery includes a Mediterranean garden to the eastern side of the house, which has a little stream running through it.

Honestly, it all sounds pretty picturesque.

Jason Fletcher from Rohrs & Rowe, who are handling the sale, said: ‘This property is just 600 metres away from the cliffs and where King Arthur reputedly had his castle.

‘The property itself is on a really serene little parcel of land. When you’re there it feels like you are miles away from everything.

‘Tintagel can get quite busy in the summer, but because this is on the edge of the village and very private, you get no real impact from the outside.

‘No expense was spared, it was a real labour of love and every single room is perfect.

‘There are a couple of options for buyers. There is a three-bedroom cottage attached. People could run it as a business, or use the cottage as a holiday let, or you could have multi-generational families as well.

‘People want to live that Cornish life and be able to have friends and family come to stay.’
