It has previously been revealed that a new threat will face the survivors in Fear the Walking Dead season five and the weapons of choice in the newly-released promo photos show how hard it will be.
Nuclear walkers are coming in season five of the AMC spin-off of The Walking Dead and the weapon Morgan Jones (played by Lennie James) holds in one of the photos hints they will have to face the threat from a distance.
He is seen holding a long spear, which suggests that he will have to attack the walkers from a distance to avoid any contamination.
The nuclear walkers could wipe out the survivors and they are possibly the biggest walkers threat on both Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead.
Showrunner Ian Goldberg has teased the terrifying threat the survivors will now face.
He revealed at WonderCon: “You did see that nuclear sign, and they may come up against a walker threat that is unlike any they’ve ever seen.
“And a walker threat that might be able to hurt them beyond just a bite. So perhaps some of the most dangerous walkers they’ve faced yet.”
The synopsis for season five reads: “The group’s mission is clear: locate survivors and help make what’s left of the world a slightly better place. With dogged determination, Morgan Jones leads the group with a philosophy rooted in benevolence, community, and hope.
“Each character believes that helping others will allow them to make up for the wrongs of their pasts. But trust won’t be easily earned. Their mission of helping others will be put to the ultimate test when our group finds themselves in unchartered territory, one which will force them to face not just their pasts but also their fears.
“It is only through facing those fears that the group will discover an entirely new way to live, one that will leave them forever changed.”
Morgan appears to be leading the cast this season, but will it last?
Speaking about his future on the show, the actor said: “I’ve got no idea really. It’s kind of early days yet and at the moment I’m not looking for the door, but anything can happen in the next half hour.”
He crossed over from The Walking Dead in season eight and would be open to a return.
He revealed to Metro.co.uk: “But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss the other show and I don’t keep tabs on the show itself, but also the people I know and love over there.”
One thing the season five promo photos is missing is fan favourite Madison Clark (Kim Dickins).

Fans are desperate for her to return to the show and it is possible after her death was not confirmed.
The actress is also very keen to return revealing to MovieWeb: “We would have to sit down and talk about it, bit I love the character. I would never say no, without discussing it and seeing what they were talking about.
“I am really proud of Madison Clark. I mean, to be kicking ass on a daily basis like that, as a female lead of a show, it was a dream role.”
Fans will have to wait to find out whether she will return to reprise her dream role.
Fear the Walking Dead returns to AMC on June 2 and AMC UK the following day.
