Emmerdale’s Max Parker has joined the cast of an upcoming Netflix series.
The actor, who played Luke Posner in the ITV soap, will star opposite Miles Heizer and Vera Farmiga in The Corps, which tells the story of gay high school student Cameron, played by 13 Reason Why star Miles, who joins the Marine Corps with his best friend.
Max will portray gay marine Sgt Sullivan, who sees something of himself in Cameron, and thus makes it his mission to prep him for the world beyond boot camp. The 10-part dramedy, which is set during the 1990s, also stars Bates Motel’s Vera Farmiga as protagonist Cameron’s mother, in addition to The Vampire Diaries’ Zach Roerig.
Best known to audiences for having played Luke Posner in Emmerdale between 2019 and 2021, Max has had no shortage of success since departing the ITV serial, having starred in Netflix’s Vampire Academy, as well as historical drama Blood, Sex and Royalty, the streamer’s re-telling of the Henry VIII story.
The 31-year-old, who is in a relationship with former Emmerdale co-star Kris Mochrie, decided to leave Emmerdale in May 2021, with his final scenes airing the following September.
‘Max was never going to stay on the soap for years,’ a source told The Sun at the time.
‘He’s ambitious and a talented guy – he’s already auditioning for new roles and excited for the future.’
Max’s character Luke was embroiled in a huge storyline at the time of his exit, after it was discovered that he had been catfishing Ethan Anderson (Emile John).
When telling mum Wendy (Susan Cookson) about what he’d done, Luke opened up about about what really happened in the past with his boyfriend Stephen.
He confirmed that the relationship was an ‘intense’ one, and was even planning on introducing Stephen to Wendy at one stage, before homophobic brother Lee, played by Mochrie, found out and attacked him.
