Emmerdale fan favourite ‘quits’ soap after 11 years during 50th anniversary

Emmerdale actress Fiona Wade is reported to be leaving her role of Priya Sharma after 11 years on the soap.

Characters in the show, which has been marking its 50th anniversary, recently faced a serious storm that claimed the lives of Harriet Finch and Liv Flaherty.

While Samson Dingle remains missing, Sam Dingle is expected to make a full recovery after he was seriously injured on a tractor during the storm.

It's unknown whether Priya's exit will be linked to recent events in the Yorkshire village.

However, The Sun reported that actress Fiona will be filming her final scenes within the next few months.

It's been said that she is leaving to pursue other acting opportunities.

Fiona's character Priya worked for the wedding planning business Take A Vow, which helped organise Kim Tate and Will Taylor's wedding.

The fan favourite, who had storylines of an eating disorder and an arranged marriage, has played a role in many big events that have taken place.

Friday 28 October is set to air the joint funeral of Liv and Faith Dingle.

Producer Laura Shaw told The Sun: “Having a scene featuring the entire adult cast was not something we had done before — it felt very right and fitting that we had the whole cast there to say goodbye.”

Faith, who was played by actress Sally Dexter, took her life after battling with breast cancer.

Speaking to The Mirror at the Inside Soap Awards, the actress said: "Well Al, oh my goodness, there’s something coming up there.

"I'm not sure how much you know. Viewers should always be looking out for Cain. It's very important."

Sally played the role of Faith since 2017.

Liv's final scenes were also emotional as she died after being crushed by a caravan during the storm.

During her last moments she thanked her brother Aaron for saving her many years ago and she told her husband Vinny to live life to the fullest.

While Vinny tried to keep hope by telling Sally that he couldn't wait for the things they would do in the future, Sally thanked him for how happy he made her.

She then died in her husband's arms moments later.
