Ellen DeGeneres Uncertain About The Future Of Her Daytime Talk Show

Ellen DeGeneres is considering – or not – the end of her wildly successful daytime talk show. In an interview with The New York Times, posted online ahead of its print publication this Sunday, the comic and host says she’s uncertain what she’ll do when her contract ends in 2020.

DeGeneres renewed her deal in 2016 and recently extended it through the summer of 2020, but admits to changing her mind frequently about the future of the multiple Emmy-winning The Ellen DeGeneres Show. She tells the Times that she’s torn between the advice of her wife Portia de Rossi, who thinks she should move on, and her brother, comedian Vance DeGeneres, who thinks his sister’s daily voice is more important than ever in the age of Donald Trump.

De Rossi, DeGeneres tells the Times, “gets mad when my brother tells me I can’t stop.”

DeGeneres gave the rare interview to promote her new Netflix comedy special Relatable, launching on the streaming service Dec. 18.
