After marrying Gray Atkins (played by Toby Alexander Smith), Chelsea (Zaraah Abrahams) learned the truth about the abusive lawyer. Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) revealed messages posted on a domestic forum by Chantelle (Jessica Plummer) and shared her suspicions Gray had killed her. While Chelsea was initially unsure, she finally realised she needed to get away from Gray. However, as she tried to make her escape in the latest instalment of EastEnders, Gray managed to stop her and it looks like she is going to pay for her actions.

With the help of Whitney and Kheerat Panesar (Jaz Deol), Chelsea picked up her overtime money from the club, as well as some extra cash.

Kheerat kept Gray distracted while Whitney watched Chelsea get into a cab and leave for the airport.

However, nothing is easy in soap land and it was Chantelle’s father Mitch Baker who picked her up.

Chelsea managed to trick Mitch into believing she was heading to Ibiza for a last-minute holiday with Gray, who would join her in a few days.

However, when Zack Hudson (James Farrar) knocked at Gray’s house claiming Chelsea had stolen from the club, the lawyer became suspicious.

Checking the house, he realised Chelsea had taken Chantelle’s jewellery and rang the taxi firm to see where his new wife had gone.

Once he realised Mitch was driving Chelsea, he was able to convince his father-in-law to return her to Walford.

He claimed Chelsea wasn’t well and had stolen Chantelle’s belongings and needed help.

As Mitch arrived back in the Square, Chelsea woke up and begged Mitch to help her but he insisted he couldn’t.

As Chelsea broke down in tears, Gray opened the care door and told his wife: “Welcome home.”

It’s clear Gray isn’t happy with his new wife’s actions and just like he did with Chantelle, will want to make her pay for embarrassing him.

It’s likely Gray will beat his new wife and with her expecting their child, it wouldn’t be surprising if she ended up in hospital.

Ahead of her wedding to Gray, Denise Fox (Diane Parish) demanded to know if he treated Chelsea well and she insisted he did.

Chelsea has already been through a lot and Denise will be furious when she learns what Gray has been doing to her daughter.

Could Denise be the one to expose Gray or even worse go head-to-head with him?

If Denise attacked Gray and killed him, it would put her new husband Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) in a difficult position.

In order to avoid a prison sentence, Denise could go on the run so Jack couldn’t arrest her and she wouldn’t have to pay for killing Gray.

Perhaps, Jack would sympathise with Denise and, agreeing she acted in self defence, stand by her side or go on the run with her.

This would mean Chelsea would inherit everything from Gray and be able to raise her child in Walford knowing he would not be there to hurt her.

EastEnders continues December 27th on BBC One.
