With it only being days since Alfie's departure with baby Cherry, many fans were left puzzled as to why the storyline got no mention yesterday evening.
After falling down the stairs on Christmas Day, viewers were led to believe Alfie was dead and were stunned to find out he’d actually kidnapped Cherry and gone off into the night with her.
In Thursday night's episode, Alfie, played by Shane Richie, was seen meeting with Phil Mitchell who gave him two fake passports to help him flee the UK.
However, despite previously being mortified following the baby's disappearance, in scenes from last night's episode neither Hayley Slater nor any other character mentioned anything about her missing baby, which led fans to vent their concerns on social media.
One wrote: "Did they just forget about Hayley's missing baby tonight? #EastEnders"
Another added: "Looks like nobody gives a F**K, that Hayley's baby is missing.
A third chimed in, as they vented about other past storylines that had happened over previous Christmas's which had been momentarily forgotten about for several episodes.
They said: "Fed up of them having these massive storylines/cliffhangers and just abandoning the characters involved happened last year with the Brannings after they said Abi was dying and is happening again this year with the Slaters after Alfie abducted Cherry
But, with the soap set to continue next week, it isn't yet known if Alfie will flee the country with the baby or return home to face the music…
EastEnders continues Monday night at 8pm on BBC One.
