EastEnders fans were utterly heartbroken as they watched the Mitchell’s mark seven years since BBC icon Peggy Mitchell, played by Dame Barbara Windsor, left the BBC One soap.

During Tuesday’s visit (May 16) to Albert Square, Phil Mitchell and Kat Slater made their annual trip to the Queen Vic where they raised a glass to their late grandmother who died seven years ago.

After leaving the soap in 2016, the Carry On actress was made a dame by the Queen shortly before she died in 2020.

The gangster could be seen getting emotional as he remembered some of his favourite memories of her while they enjoyed some of Alfie's latest concoctions at the bar.

As Kat, Phil and Ben Mitchell sat down for dinner, he reminded his son "We're supposed to be celebrating gran."

It was at this point that Alfie asked: "Do you want a cocktail? We could do one to celebrate your gran's anniversary? How about Pegstar Martini or a Peggy Colada?"

While Kat was excited about the idea, Phil struggled to share a smile as he confessed: "It's hard to believe it's been seven years you know?"

It was at this point that Alfie said: "Wow, seven years? Well lets raise a glass to Peggy, yeah?"

The group all picked up their colourful cocktails and raised a glass to the legendary pub landlord in her honour.

Fans couldn't help but flood to Twitter to share their heartache over the late actress.
