EastEnders fans gobsmacked as Janine Butcher’s daughter arrives in Walford

EastEnders fans have shared their excitement at the debut of Janine Butcher's daughter, Scarlett.

The BBC One soap finally introduced Tommy Moon's mysterious online friend during tonight's episode (August 27).

Much to the horror of Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace), her identity was that of Janine Butcher's (Charlie Brooks) daughter Scarlett, who Tommy thinks is his cousin but is actually his half-sister of whom he pleaded with Kat to take out of foster care.

Asked about Janine by Kat, Scarlett said: "She doesn't care about me. She left me and I've been with ten different foster families since."

She added: "That's why I found Tommy online. He's the only one I can think of that might be able to help me."

Tommy replied: "She needs us. Please Mum. I promised."

Alongside Kat, EastEnders viewers were shook to see Scarlett on screens and quickly speculated on Twitter that Janine's return would be imminent.

One viewer wrote: "Scarlett Butcher is BACK! And all grown up."

Another added: "Hello Scarlett! Hello Janine (very soon)."

A third commented: "I didn’t expect Janine’s daughter to look/act like that."

Meanwhile, a fourth said: "Scarlett Butcher has arrived."

A fifth concluded: "HOW IS THAT JANINE'S CHILD. SHE'S SO POLITE."
