In an emotional reconnection, the newlywed – who was recently diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour – learn that the newest resident in the street is actually her estranged mother.

But that wasn’t where the drama ended, after the loveable character reconnected with her distant mother who seemingly walked out on her when she was three, as they discussed her heartbreaking childhood.

As they sat down with a bottle of wine, Emma revealed that her late father Jamie Mitchell had hidden a dark side of himself from Lola as a child, with the truth finally coming out after his death was announced.

Emma revealed that she didn’t walk out on Lola all those years ago, but instead was a victim of abuse as she recalled a harrowing ordeal which left her hospital bound for months at the hands of her ex.

The character confirmed Lola’s alcoholic dad was violent towards her and often lashed out at her during fights when Lola was young.

Emma shared her breaking point with Jamie happened after one horrific argument, where her abusive partner threw a kettle of boiling hot water over.

The blonde beauty was rushed to hospital and suffered serious burns which took months to recover from, leaving Lola in the hands of her father.

By the time she had left hospital, Jamie had fled with their daughter without a trace which forced Emma to spend years of her life searching for her.

It wasn’t until Emma recently learnt about her father’s death that she felt safe enough to return to the Square and reconnect with her terminally ill daughter.

At first, Lola didn’t initially believe her and called her out, even accusing her of lying about her version of events.
