The first three contestants for Strictly Come Dancing 2019 were revealed on BBC’s The One Show tonight (Wednesday, July 31). Earlier in the day, it was reported Sam Allardyce, Jamie Laing and Anneka Rice would be the three famous faces signed up for Strictly. However, it was revealed to be David James, Chris Ramsey and Emma Barton instead. Here’s all Strictly fans need to know about David James ahead of their Strictly debut.
Who is Strictly Come Dancing 2019 star David James?
David James is a 48-year-old former professional footballer and England international.
The footballer’s career including stints at Aston Villa, Liverpool and West Ham.
His Strictly appearance was confirmed by Matt Baker and Stacey Dooley on The One Show.
James said he was “excited for the lessons” ahead of the series debut while on the show.

James told BBC: “I’m really excited to be on Strictly this year.
“Not just competing against this year’s stars, but being compared to previous sport stars from previous Strictly seasons.
“I have some big shoes to fill, #LetsGetLive”.
Speaking to Stacey and Matt, David said: “Shellshocked? Yeah (I am), I’ve had to keep it a secret for so long.
“I told one person, I told mum, and she forgot!”
WHO ARE THE STRICTLY 2019 JUDGES?
Before landing the role on Strictly, David had recently served as a manged to Indian Premier League team Kerala Blasters.
His playing career saw him start out at Watford FC.
From there, David went on to enjoy stints at Liverpool, Aston Villa and West Ham.
The Strictly star has also racked up an impressive 53 caps for England.
