Danny Dyer leads praise for Rose Ayling-Ellis as she wins Strictly Come Dancing 2021

Danny Dyer has lead messages of congratulations for Rose Ayling-Ellis after she was announced the winner of Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday night.

Rose and professional partner Giovanni Pernice beat John Waite and Johannes Radebe in an emotional final of the hit BBC dance show after AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington were forced to pull out.

And nobody was as happy to see the 27 year old lift the glitterball trophy as Rose's on-screen dad and EastEnders co-star Danny.

Danny, 44, took to Instagram to share his praise for Rose, posting a photo of her and Giovanni cheering as they help up the glitterball trophy.

He wrote to his 1.3million followers: "You’re a f**king lioness among lambs @rose.a.e," alongside a red love heart emoji.

Tess Daly, who hosts the show, wrote: "Our incredible @bbcstrictly Series 18 winners @rose.a.e & @pernicegiovann1.

"It’s been such a rollercoaster of a show and I think one of my favourite seasons ever! Thankyou so much for watching and voting and being a part of something that felt so special!"

Her co-host, Claudia Winkleman, added: "Our @bbcstrictly winners. The phenomenal @rose.a.e and @pernicegiovann1. Thank you so much for watching. We're so grateful."

Former Strictly: It Takes Two host Zoe Ball wrote on Twitter: "Congratulations to the utterly fabulous Rose & Giovanni – have sobbed the whole way through this incredible #Strictly final.

"Huge love to John & Johannes too, both couples have broken down barriers & inspired us all."

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan shared praise to both finalist couples, writing: "The #Strictly final we all needed. Rose and Giovanni worthy winners – but John and Johannes had the dance of the night."

Gaby Roslin penned: "That was AMAZING & moving & beautiful & uplifting, joyous and fab-u-lous CONGRATULATIONS @rose.a.e & @pernicegiovann1 on lifting that glitter ball trophy.

"What a finale and what a season! Wow @bbcstrictly what a show."
