Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) could be set to start a new life elsewhere in Coronation Street, as he contemplates his future after quitting his job.
The high school teacher decides to pack in his career in upcoming scenes, telling Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) that he’s ‘done’ with the profession.
David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) takes great glee in the revelation, as seen in the above preview clip, taken from Friday’s (May 20) edition of the ITV soap.
‘I’d love to say “I’m sorry to hear that” if it weren’t the best news I’ve heard all week!’, exclaims the hairdresser.
Talk about a low blow.
Daniel, however, doesn’t rise to it, his mind evidently on Daisy, following their split last month.
David, meanwhile, notes the frosty atmosphere between the former lovers, and in typical David fashion, decides to comment on it, suggesting that Daniel would be better off starting afresh elsewhere.
‘Looks like there’s not much left for you around here, pal!’, he says. ‘Why don’t you just do us all a favour and start a new life somewhere else?
‘Dad reckons New Zealand is lovely!’, he concludes, with a sinister smile, before leaving the pub, as Daniel continues to drown his sorrows.
Will Daniel take David’s ‘advice’ and leave the street?
The mainstay will have a lot to deal with during the episode in question, as Nicky Wheatley (Kimberly Hart-Simpson) tells him that she thinks they could have a future together.
Will Daniel feel the same way?
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Friday May 20 at 8pm on ITV.
