Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) is set to be left in agony in Coronation Street when she is involved in a collision with a cyclist and ends up injuring herself. As she closes up the flower shop for the day, Eileen Grimshaw’s (Sue Cleaver) new boyfriend Jan (Piotr Baumann) comes round the corner on his bike and crashes right into her.
As Mary falls to the ground, she injures her wrist and a guilty Jan helps her to her feet, with Moira Pollock (Louiza Patikas) assisting her to the medical centre for treatment. Later, Jan tries to make a peace offering by buying her a drink as an apology but a miffed Mary is not interested.
Moira, on the other hand, is and she wastes no time in turning on the charm with Jan, which winds a jealous Eileen up. But Jan having a roving eye is the least of Eileen’s worries as he is about to be at the centre of a controversial new storyline involving modern slavery and human trafficking.
Seb Franklin gets a crush when he meets nail bar worker Alina and as the pair hit it off they end up heading for dinner. But when Alina catches sight of Jan, she panics and rushes off and Jan is clearly uncomfortable as it’s clear Seb really likes her.
She eventually comes round to see him again and the pair end up getting on like a house on fire and opening up about their pasts, with Alina missing her family back home and Seb being honest about his HIV status.
As Alina asks for his number, Seb is delighted – but will soon be horrified when he learns that Jan is involved in exploiting her and others…
