Coronation Street fans have been suspicious about Curtis Delamere (Sam Retford) for a while now, claiming he’s set to break fiancée Emma Brooker’s (Alexandra Mardell) heart.
Now, after his increasingly shady behavior as the pair plan their upcoming wedding, ITV viewers are convinced that Curtis is lying about his heart condition and have urged him to ‘stop lying’.
Following recent scenes where Curtis told Emma he wanted a small, intimate wedding as he isn’t in touch with his family, soap fans have put forward their theories on what could be going on.
They also claimed there could be a darker reason behind why Curtis doesn’t want his family present, as it could mean his spiralling lies would finally catch up with him.
One eagled-eyed armchair detective said: “There is definitely something off about that Curtis.”
Another interjected: “Poor Emma. Curtis is taking her for a mug isn’t he? Hate it.”
While a third said they didn’t trust anything he said, following the revelation that his dad is actually alive when he had previously told her he was dead.
They wrote: “Why is Curtis full of lies saying his dad is dead when he’s alive. I wouldn’t believe anything about his “illness” either. What a weird bloke because Emma is lovely.”
A different viewer agreed, writing: “I wonder if Curtis has just made up his heart condition.”
Elsewhere, others described the enigmatic character as both a “con artist” and a “scammer” and begged the character to “stop lying”.
This comes after Corrie teased future scenes where Curtis’ dad will arrive on the cobbles, leaving Emma reeling.
In upcoming episodes, Emma is shocked when a man called Neville introduces himself as Curtis' father.
Thinking on his feet, Curtis claims that Neville is actually his stepdad, but what is the truth?
Neville will be played by former soap star Mark Cameron, who has previously appeared in hit shows Emmerdale, Doctors, EastEnders and even past episodes of Corrie in a different role.
The actor played Sean Rossi in Emmerdale from 1996 to 1997 before returning in 2020 as a detective.
While his previous roles in Coronation Street include D.I. Parks, Stuart Pollock and Lenny Schnitzer after appearing on the ITV soap in 2006, 2007 and 2017. Mark also appeared in EastEnders in both 2014 and 2016 as Hugh Thompson.
