Coronation Street’s Evelyn Plummer hit with jealousy over Roy’s new friendship

Maureen Lipman teases return for Evelyn Plummer's daughter

With Roy Cropper’s (played by David Neilson) operation fast approaching, the much-loved character decided to write letters to those most important to him in case he didn’t make it.

The Coronation Street resident is set to have a stent put in after it was recently discovered he has angina.

Although the operation was meant to be a while away, it’s happening sooner than expected due to a cancellation.

In upcoming scenes, Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman), discovers her friend has also left a letter to her to open should he die.

However, in true Evelyn style, her nosiness got the better of her and she decided to read the contents inside.

Although fans are yet to learn what Roy had written to Evelyn, she’s clearly moved as she decides to pay him a visit.

Unbeknownst to her, there’s already another woman keeping Roy company by his bedside, Yasmeen Metcalfe (Shelley King).

Yasmeen had brought in his late wife Hayley’s red coat which he had been trying to track down after it had been accidentally donated to charity.

Listening in on their conversation, Evelyn soon leaves and decides to return another day.

However, on her next attempt to speak to Roy, Yasmeen is there once again as he explains their rekindled friendship now Hayley’s coat has been returned.

Unimpressed, Evelyn bristles as her jealousy is too much to handle.

Later on, Roy asks if she could keep looking after his dog Freddie a little longer while he recuperates.

Setting with jealousy over Yasmeen now in his life, she makes out that having the pooch is a huge imposition on her.
