Coronation Street star Beverley Callard has vowed to learn to walk again by the end of the year.
The 63-year-old actress, who plays Liz McDonald on the soap, has been left in intense pain and needing extensive physiotherapy after a routine hip operation went wrong.
The Corrie star was left needing a full hip replacement to fix her crumbled joint after her initial surgery and feared she'd be left in a wheelchair for life.
However, Beverley is focused on returning to the soap so she can film her final scenes as Liz.
Opening up, she said: “This is the toughest fight of my life but I am determined to win it.
She continued telling The Mirror: “I love playing her [Liz] and she has inspired me to want to get on my feet again so I can do it one last time.”
Corrie fans were left confused after Beverley suddenly disappeared from the soap six months ago.
And the reason was finally revealed yesterday as she spoke of her surgery hell.
Beverley even feared the painful surgery would end her career.
It was revealed earlier this month that Beverley had already left the cobbles without filming exit scenes.
The barmaid was said to have moved to Spain in a hurry.
This came as her son Steve McDonald struggled amid his son Oliver's tragic illness.
Oliver's mum Leanne said: "I don’t suppose it helps that your mum’s in Spain either."
Steve replied: "No but I get why she had to get out of here but yeah, one less person to talk to I suppose."
