Coronation Street viewers were left worried after Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) stole drugs from the hospital after her life-threatening accident.
Abi was due to meet Seb (Harry Visinoni) so that she could bid adieu to Charlie and Lexie, but tragedy struck in Wednesday’s (August 19) episode.
As she worked on a car in the garage, the engine fell on her — trapping her to the floor. Peter (Chris Gascoyne) acquired Tyrone Dobbs’ (Alan Halsall) keys so that he could pick up his car from the garage, and once he entered he discovered that Abi was in danger.
In Friday’s episode (August 21), she was taken to the hospital – where Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and Seb joined after learning what happened – and was told by Seb that Charlie and Lexie left for Australia.
Understanding that it meant Abi missed her opportunity to say her goodbyes, she left the hospital bed to steal morphine from the medicine trolley, leaving viewers worried about her actions.
‘Thank goodness Peter saw Abi take the medication #[email protected],’ one fan said, seeing that Peter witnessed everything.
Another posted: ‘Peter looking out for Abi aw bless his heart #Corrie x’
‘DON’T do it Abi,’ another begged, adding a sad emoji.
‘Abi ? ? ? ? this is breaking my heart?? ,’ another commented on the situation.
One fan questioned: ‘ I guess as a recovering addict, morphine will have less effect on Abi than most people.’
Previously, it was revealed that Abi would be struggling with her past drug addictions all over again.
A source told The Sun in August: ‘Abi’s tried so hard and she’s finally in a place where she has a shot at a happy life.
‘But it’s all going to come tumbling down around her and her old habits start to resurface.
‘Kevin’s going to have no idea what she’s going through and Abi will need to find every bit of strength she can muster to not relapse.’
