Coronation Street villain Harvey (played by Will Mellor) hasn’t been seen on the cobbles since last Halloween when he made an escape from prison to track down Leanne (Jane Danson). He ended up shooting dead Natasha Blakeman (Rachel Leskovac) instead. Since he was put back behind bars though, Leanne has felt much safer after all the trouble he inflicted on her family. However, it seems Natasha’s young son, Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) has secretly been writing to his mother’s killer, seemingly after answers. When Leanne realised they had been sent a letter from her enemy Harvey, she panicked, and viewers have been left fearing for the worst for her. Could Harvey kill end up killing Leanne?
Soap fans will remember Harvey was after Leanna because she became a police informant last year, leading to his arrest.
It came as Leanne’s son, Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) got involved in Harvey’s dodgy drug gang.
When the cobbles put on a Halloween event which saw all the locals dressing up, Harvey managed to find his way back to the Square, purely with the intention of killing Leanne.
After mistaking Natasha for her though, he murdered the wrong person.
The family have tried to get on with their lives, but it seems Harvey is clawing his way back in.
It seems to indicate that Will could soon be reprising his role as Harvey soon – but what does this mean for Leanne?
“I don’t believe it,” Leanne commented as she read Harvey’s ominous letters.
“Came this morning, one for each of us,” Nick explained.
“Why does Harvey Gaskell want to see us?” Leanne asked, baffled.
She added: “Well it’s the anniversary of Natasha’s death next week.
“Is this some sort of sick joke, some kind of ‘Remember what I did?'”
“It might be,” Nick agreed. “I mean it doesn’t matter, we’re not going to see him, are we?”
“No, of course, we’re not, as if I want to be in a room with him again,” Leanne replied.
Later though, she kept thinking she had caught a glimpse of the dangerous criminal around the Street.
Peering out of the window for any sign of him, Leanne was advised by Nick to turn away.
“He’s not out there you know, he’s safely banged up inside,” he tried to reassure her.
“I’m just scared of my own shadow at the minute,” she responded.
“Any sudden noise and I think he’s going to break in and come and get me.
“Everything’s just going round and round in my head, I feel like I’m going mad.
“Do you know what? I wish he was outside, then I’d ask him, ‘What is it you actually want?'”
Could Leanne’s wish be foreshadowing that Harvey could unexpectedly turn up for revenge?
Although he’s behind bars, he still poses a threat to the woman he blames for his imprisonment.
It could be that he gets one of his contacts to carry out his dirty work, or perhaps he will somehow make another escape.
Fans of the ITV soap seem to be theorising something bad is in store for Leanne.
Twitter user @DavidBoink commented: “Halloween around the corner and Harvey’s doing Nightmare on Coronation St in Leanne’s head #Corrie.” (sic)
@JulianneC17 added: “#coronationstreet #corrie Please Harvey come and get Leanne…”
@VampLover27 joked: “One, two, Harvey’s coming for you #Corrie.”
@Wee_Westie29 pointed out: “Leanne’s having flashbacks to that night that Harvey tried to kill her. #Corrie #CoronationStreet
@DavidBoink predicted: “Halloween in 2 weeks Leanne might her comeuppance #Corrie.”
Others alluded to the fact that actor Will is currently taking part in Strictly Come Dancing, with @I_am_KenBarlow jokingly posting: “#Corrie No Leanne, don’t go and see Harvey. He probably only wants you to vote for him on Strictly.”
However, with the anniversary of his last killing spree approaching, is Leanne right to be concerned?
Coronation Street continues on Monday at 8pm on ITV.
