Clive Owen admits he had ‘huge part’ to play in Amanda split
In his first TV interview since the couple announced their split in June 2022, Clive Owen begged fans to “leave Amanda alone” as he admitted he “behaved badly” towards his estranged wife. The Our Yorkshire Farm star told Lorraine host Christine Lampard he would “rant and rave” at Amanda instead of supporting her as she tried to make their home at Ravenseat Farm secure.
Clive took full blame for the breakdown of their 21 year marriage as he begged fans to be kind to Amanda.
He explained his estranged wife has “had a tough time” and he felt he had to “say something in her defence”.
Defending the mother of his nine children, he continued: “She’s a remarkable woman. We just got to the point where we couldn’t be together anymore.”
Clive went on to explain in their hit show Our Yorkshire Farm created a “wedge” between them.
“We were under pressure and it was crazy and it makes you look at life in a different way,” he detailed.
“We couldn’t get along and we parted, it is very sad but it is what it is.”
Clive added their children are “great and fine” and coping with the news of their split well.
Earlier in the interview, the farmer explained how he was to blame for their split.
He told Christine:”One of the things I hear is ‘poor Clive’ and I feel that isn’t right. We filmed Our Yorkshire Farm, people loved it and the plan, Amanda’s plan was we don’t own the farm but this is security.
“We had this plan to make it more secure as a family so that’s what drove her, it was amazing and successful.
“I handled it very badly, it was such a change in our life and I sadly made a right mess of things and I had a massive part to play in our relationship ending, a massive part to play.
“When all this went on, I was ranting and raving and drinking and carrying on.
“It was taking her away I think, it wasn’t. She was committed and we were all committed but it seemed to eat away at me and I handled it badly and behaved badly towards her.
“I should have been supportive and I was the completely opposite.”
Clive was praised by Lorraine fans for speaking out and setting the record straight on his split from Amanda
