Christian Bale Offers Robert Pattinson Some Simple Advice On Batman Role

Christian Bale has put some simple advice out there for Robert Pattinson now that he’s been confirmed as the new Batman.

Bale played Batman from 2005-2012, starring as the masked hero in Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. Since then, the role has been taken up by Ben Affleck (and Will Arnet in The Lego Movie if you’re willing to count that). And it was recently confirmed that Pattinson would be the next actor to carry the DC torch following rumors the Twilight star could be the man who puts on the Batsuit.

To say the news divided the opinion would be an understatement. Bale, though, is all for it and says Pattinson is a fantastic actor.

“All the best to him! You know, I think he’s an absolutely fantastic actor,” he told ET‘s Ash Crossan at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival. “Wonderful choice for Batman!”

Bale also spoke to Variety and, asked if he had any advice for the new Batman, he said it’s basically the same as he gave Affleck when it was his turn.

“Same as for Ben, just be able to pee by yourself,” he said. “You don’t feel much like a superhero when you can’t take a piss by yourself.”

Seems like really important advice. It’s hard enough having to fight villains every day, but imagine doing it with a full bladder – not optimal.

That it’s coming from Bale should carry a lot of weight too. His role as Batman in the trilogy is considered to be better than most as it pertains to the live-action Batmen we’ve seen over the years.

Pattinson is yet to show what he brings to the Batcave and, who knows? He might just be the best one yet. The 33-year-old will make his debut as the masked crusader in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, which is set to drop in June 2021. Until then, you could catch him in an upcoming film called The Lighthouse next month.
