'Better Call Saul': Now Fans Are Starting to Wonder if Kim Wexler Was Secretly Part of 'Breaking Bad' All Along

For the entirety of the series Better Call Saul, fans have been waiting for the inevitable exit of Kim Wexler. Over the years Kim has become Jimmy’s girlfriend and biggest supporter plus the one person who’s able to keep his shenanigans in check. Once Jimmy fully abandons his moral code, there’s no way Kim will be around for it. Right?

The brilliance of Better Call Saul is that it’s impossible to predict what comes next. But now that Kim unexpectedly blurted out a shocking proposal at the end of Episode 6 in Season 5, it has fans questioning if Kim could potentially stick around.

Is it possible that Kim was secretly part of Breaking Bad all along and we never knew it?

Saul Goodman was a secondary character on ‘Breaking Bad’

The main storyline in Breaking Bad focused on WalterWhite along with his reluctant partner, Jesse Pinkman, working their way up thechain in the meth manufacturing business. Even showrunner Vince Gilligan had noidea that the overly flashy criminal lawyer Saul Goodman would wind up with hisown spinoff show.

National Review reported that the character of Saul Goodman “was supposed to be a joke” on Breaking Bad. Developing a complicated backstory came much later. With this in mind, it sort of makes sense why Saul’s personal life was never fully explored on the show.

Could he have had a secret wife (Kim Wexler) at home the whole time? Fans are saying it’s a possibility.

It’s highly unlikely that Kim and Jimmy stay married once hebecomes Saul

While it’s comforting to picture Kim picking up takeout and gossiping about Heisenberg with Jimmy during the Breaking Bad days, the truth is that theory is a real long shot. Mostly because we already know how Kim feels about Saul Goodman and his shady dealings.

Skeptics of the theory that Kim is still with Jimmy in thefuture point out Saul’s overt sexual advances to his secretary, Francesca. Theyclaim he would never stoop so low as to cheat on her like that. Though the flash-forwardscenes with Jimmy in his new life as Gene Takovic would become that much moretragic if he’d just left Kim without saying goodbye.

Kim and Jimmy are speeding toward a breaking point

No one knows what’s going to happen to Kim, but it’sbecoming increasingly clear that she’s about had it with Jimmy’s lies. At theend of “Wexler v. Goodman,” she delivers an impassioned speech that Jimmy assumesis her breaking up with him. The tirade comes on the same day Jimmy tricked Kimby going ahead with the con against her client Mesa Verde even after she toldhim to drop it.

“This has to end,” Kim says. “I cannot keep living likethis. If you don’t see it, I don’t know what to say because we are at abreaking point. Either we end this now, and enjoy the time we had and go ourseparate ways, or maybe…maybe we get married.”

Her proposal isone of business, not love. It ultimately proves that Kim does love him butshe’s had enough of his character flaws. Their marriage isn’t the cement thatwill hold them together — it’s shaping up to become their biggest con yet.
