Waterloo Road: Angela Griffin teases new series
The BBC have confirmed they have recommissioned TV drama Waterloo Road for two further series.
The news comes after Strictly Come Dancing’s Adam Thomas revealed that fans are outraged at one of his storylines in the show.
Speaking on Lorraine, the star, who reprised his role as Donte Charles in the revived school-based drama said: “I mean the fans are outraged! They really are, they keep messaging me.”
The storyline that has them so irked involves his character and and Chlo Grainger (played by Katie Griffiths) who, it was revealed when the show returned, had gone on to have their own family following the original series.
Sadly, Chlo unexpectedly died at the end of the first episode of the reboot, leaving Donte and her children behind.

“Well, it started off so well, didn’t it?” laughed Adam, whose brother is former Coronation Street star Ryan.
“Then obviously the shock at the end when unfortunately, Chlo gets- yeah. It’s not my fault guys, it’s not my fault! They’re [the fans] all blaming me,” he lamented.
The show, which explores the lives of students at a state school in Greater Manchester, initially ran on the BBC between 2006 and 2015.
The original run featured many well-known names during it’s run including Tina O’Brien, Amanda Burton, Denise Welch and Doctor Who star Jenna Coleman.
It also gave Briderton’s Regé-Jean Page his big break when he starred in season 10.

After it proved a ratings winner on the iPlayer, as people rediscovered it during lockdown, the series was recommissioned.
It returned earlier this year, with an ensemble cast that included former Coronation Street stars Angela Griffin and Kym Marsh starring alongside Adam.
Speaking about the recommissioning Cameron Roach, executive producer of the show said: “We’re beyond thrilled with the triumphant return of Waterloo Road, and so thankful to the BBC for committing to the show so fully.
“We love that the show has the potential not only to be a crown jewel for BBC iPlayer, but also serve as a true beacon for training, and inspiring next generation talent.”
According to the BBC, Waterloo Road is in BBC iPlayer’s top three most-watched titles of the year so far for 16-34 year olds, alongside Happy Valley and EastEnders.
