Andrew Neil won’t be returning to GB News next week despite expectations that he would resume his presenting duties on Monday, it has been claimed.
In late June, Andrew, the chair of GB News, announced that he would be taking a break from the channel after its ‘rocky start’.
His hiatus came weeks after the channel’s launch, when it was plagued with technical issues live on air.
In August, GB News sent Metro.co.uk a statement regarding the 72-year-old’s return, stating: ‘As previously announced, we look forward to Andrew Neil’s return from holiday in September to host his 8pm show.’
However, it has since been reported that his break may have been extended even longer.
According to The Times, Andrew will not be back on air on Monday September 6, as previously expected.
Several presenters have taken Andrew’s place during his time slot in his absence, including former Sky News presenter Colin Brazier and former ITV News anchor Alastair Stewart.
Speaking of the potential for Andrew to return, one GB News employee told the publication: ‘I won’t believe it until I see it. Hopefully he gets over himself and comes back – for the good of everyone.’
Earlier today, Colin tweeted that he would be ‘back in the Andrew Neil chair again’ on Monday.

A source told Metro.co.uk that Andrew is still on course to return at some point in September.
A spokesperson from GB News declined to comment when approached by Metro.co.uk.
Alastair recently returned to GB News after breaking his hip, celebrating his comeback with a video shared on social media.
‘So this horse knocked me over and I broke my hip and went to hospital,’ he said in the clip.
‘It’s been a nightmare and the world has gone bonkers in that time. I am delighted to be back here in GB News.’
