On 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After, Kalani Faagata has a lot of drama on her hands because of Asuelu Pulaa’s family. After taking a family trip to Washington to see Asuelu’s mother, Lesina, and his two sisters, Tammy and Rosa, the topic of money is almost immediately brought up. Asuelu’s mother requested money, and he was told to bring $1000. However, he only has $100 to contribute, and it doesn’t seem like that’s going to cut it.
After arguing over dinner, Kalani decides to speak with Lesina and Tammy in the light of day, just the three of them. It doesn’t go well, and fans have a lot of reactions about the whole thing.
Kalani Faagata talks with Asuelu Pulaa’s mother and sister, and they get into a huge argument
Kalani hopes she can “talk some sense into them,” but it doesn’t exactly go that way. “I’m here to tell you guys, I just don’t know why you all feel entitled to me and my family’s money. And that, however you feel, feel that way. But at the end of the day, it is going to be what I say,” Kalani tells them immediately after Lesina and Tammy arrive for the meeting.
Lesina says it’s her children’s “duty” in regards to them sending money. Tammy says that Kalani’s dad is from Samoa, and the people are poor and need help. Kalani definitely understands Samoan culture, but says it’s being taken to an extreme in this case.
“Just give me money, that’s all I want,” Lesina tells Kalani back in response, which is kind of harsh. She also mentions that Kalani’s parents can “support and help” them.
Tammy brings up the fact that Kalani can work to help as well. It seems that no matter what, Kalani can’t prove her point to Asuelu’s family.
She tells them that she and Asuelu talked about how things would be when he came to the U.S., and that he would be responsible for his children.
Then they start bringing up the fact that Kalani became pregnant by Asuelu. “This is your own fault, because you want to marry Asuelu, want Asuelu to be your husband,” Lesina says to Kalani.
Next comes the harshest statement yet. “I’m sorry Kalani. I don’t care about the kids,” Lesina says. She also admits that she wants to take Asuelu back to Samoa. When Tammy brings up divorce, Kalani gets really upset, and she eventually walks away after saying she loves Asuelu, and it has nothing to do with money at all.
Tammy then lunges at Kalani as she’s walking away, and her mother holds her back as she says, “Wait until I see you, I’m going to beat you up.” Luckily, nothing gets physical, but it definitely looked like a close call.
Fans react to Kalani and Asuelu’s mother and sister’s explosive argument over money
Fans can’t stop discussing this moment between Kalani and Asuelu’s mother and sister. Things got heated and low blows were taken, that’s for sure. On Reddit, fans seem to be overwhelmingly on Kalani’s side about things.
Many fans loved Kalani’s decision to walk away from the arguing. “D*** did anyone else love seeing Kalani walk away calmly from Asuelu’s screaming sister?” a Reddit user asked.
One fan says that when Kalani walked away from the arguing, she was the “queen” in that moment. “Kalani became my queen at that moment… I normally do not get that emotionally invested into a situation, but I feel for Kalani,” they said.
Another fan tends to agree. “Me too! The way she walked away was so classy,” a fan said.
A fan thinks the argument between Kalani, Lesina, and Tammy is the best one all season. “On the contrary, it’s the best argument I’ve seen all season… Probably frustrating for them though,” they said.
“…Actually, the only nice moment was when Kalani told off Asuelu’s mom and sister and walked away like a champ,” another fan said about the situation.
One fan thinks Kalani “handled herself” well. “Kalani handled herself so well with Tammy,” they said.
The money issues confuse some fans, who wonder how Kalani is supposed to give Asuleu’s family cash. “I’m just super confused on the double standard re: pay for me, but Kalani’s parents can pay for you. Like, wouldn’t she understand if they’re giving something/anything to her while also trying to not be a burden to Kalani’s parents?” a fan asked.
Fans have a lot of thoughts when it comes to this explosive argument. Will Kalani be able to repair the relationship with Asuelu’s family in the future? Only time will tell.
