5 Reasons Twitter Is Going Crazy Over First Cast Images of Disney's Live-Action 'Aladdin'

“I don’t want to live in a world where Aladdin wears a shirt under his vest,” a fan wrote.

Twitter is going crazy over the first official cast pictures from Disney’s upcoming live-action "Aladdin."

Entertainment Weekly shared an exclusive sneak peek of the reboot Wednesday, unveiling Will Smith as Genie, Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine, and Marwan Kenzari as Jafar. And in typical fashion the Internet went wild with both outrage and glee over the images.

Die-hard Disney fans were at first startled to see Smith’s Genie without blue skin in the newly released images. Smith, however, made certain to reassure fans writing on Instagram Wednesday that his Genie is "gonna be BLUE!" and the cover represents Genie’s "human/disguise form." The actor further elaborated saying his character will be CGI and blue most of the film.

Some Twitter users even compared Smith’s genie to the completely fabricated "Shazaam!" movie that never existed. If you’re not aware, there is a persistent Internet myth that Sinbad starred as a genie in a movie called "Shazaam!" in the 1990s. The only problem is no such movie existed (College Humor even did a spoof on the not-real movie last year). However some fans used the conspiracy theory to roast the new Disney movie. One wise-cracker wrote: "Remember that alternate universe shit when we thought Sinbad starred in a genie movie? Turns out we were actually thinking of a timeline in the future with Will Smith."

In the 1992 original film, Aladdin is shirtless under his vest. Some people really wanted it to stay that way and weren’t happy that he was covered up.

"I don’t want to live in a world where Aladdin wears a shirt under his vest," a fan wrote.

While Aladdin and Genie’s appearances drew criticism, people were pleasantly surprised by how hot, evil villain Jafar is in the reboot.

A user tweeted, "Remember that scene in Aladdin where jasmine has to pretend to be into Jafar so he doesn’t notice Aladdin? … I don’t think she’ll have to pretend."
