The 41-year-old is well-known for his inspirational messages via his social media channels on Twitter and Facebook.
But his fans have always been puzzled when it came to his Insta page due to the strange pictures posted by the 16-time champ.
Cena’s first ever photo was a close up of his friend’s facial hair and he has also shared a number of Stone Cold Steve Austin parody, mostly without captions.
Now the icon has lifted the lid on the cryptic profile while appearing as a guest on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.
He said: “I was told by WWE that I had to have an Instagram account.
“And I’m already on Facebook and on Twitter and I’m pretty maxed out here. I don’t know if I can do something else. (They said) ‘No, you have to have it’.
“Pretty much they’re telling me they have to secure the name.

“I was like, ‘Okay if I have to do it I’m gonna do it my way’.”
Cena has taken on a part-time role with WWE over the past year while he continues to work on his blossoming Hollywood career.
The former world Heavyweight Champion has starred in movies such as Blockers, Trainwreck and Daddy’s Home 1 and 2.
He is also in Transformers new spin-off Bumblebee and Project X-traction opposite legendary martial artist Jackie Chan.
Cena is returning to the ring for WWE on Boxing Day at a live house show in Madison Square Garden.
The superstar is also scheduled to appear on Monday Night Raw on January 7.
