West Ham striker Andy Carroll admits he wants to be offered a new contract

The striker is out of contract at the end of the season.

And Manuel Pellegrini could be tempted to let him go after another injury-plagued season.

However, Carroll has recently returned to action and came off the bench to help his side beat Crystal Palace 3-2 on Saturday.

There is no doubting the Geordie’s ability to influence a game when he is at full fitness.

And Carroll hopes Pellegrini can look past his injury problems to offer a new deal soon.

The former Liverpool and Newcastle star told Talksport: “It’s important for me to get back playing, get back fully fit and show that I deserve another deal here.

“Be great if I can get it. If not, then we’ll see what happens.

“But at the minute I am focused on staying here and that’s where my head is at.

“I feel I don’t have to score to make an impact. I think even if I don’t get on the scoresheet or assist I cause problems.”
