Thomas Muller ruled out of BOTH legs of Bayern Munich tie with Liverpool in huge boost to Jurgen Klopp’s Champions League hopes

Germany ace Muller was shown a straight red card for a high boot into the head of Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico in the group stages.

The clash, on the half-way line, left the Argentine left-back requiring staples in the gushing wound.

While Muller was sent off for serious foul play, Uefa regulations mean all red card offences must be assessed by its Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body, with a minimum one-game ban.

Bayern insisted that the horror clash was accidental, with Muller stretching for the ball without knowing Tagliafico was there until it was too late.

The German ace also apologised to the Ajax midfielder on social media following the incident.

However, he has copped the two-match ban and will not feature in either leg against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Bayern will surely miss their talisman considering Muller's goalscoring record.

The 29-year-old forward has bagged 12 goals in the Champions Leauge's round of 16 – trailing only Lionel Messi (24) and Cristiano Ronaldo (20).

He is also Bayern's third-best goalscorer in the club's history with 181 strikes under his belt.

Meanwhile, the German giants are still waiting for Chelsea to respond to their £35million bid for winger Callum Hudson-Odoi.

His Berlin-born team-mate Antonio Rudiger revealed the Blues' youngster already quizzed him about life in Germany.
