Saquon Barkley deletes Giants Instagram posts amid devastating injury

In a dizzying day in the NFL, one move is the most curious of all.

Giants running back Saquon Barkley appeared to delete all but one Instagram post — a tribute to the late Kobe Bryant — the same day the Pro Bowler suffered a potentially season-ending knee injury in the Giants’ 17-13 loss to the Bears.

Barkley, coming off a disappointing Week 1 loss against the Steelers, still identifies himself as the running back for the Giants in his bio, but photos of him in a Big Blue uniform were nowhere to be found.

Athletes commonly use social media to vent their frustrations, though it’s unclear the circumstances surrounding the 23-year-old Barkley’s decision to seemingly scrub his page.

Barkley was carted off the field in the first half of the game and the Giants, bound for a fourth straight losing season, fear he tore his ACL.

Barkley is among several notable players who sustained injuries in Week 2, including 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle), Broncos quarterback Drew Lock (shoulder), 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa (knee), and Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr (shoulder).
