THE Craven meeting ended on a somewhat low-key note on Thursday.
But there were still some nuggets to take away from the action at Flat HQ and we've got all areas covered.
A horse for your tracker ?
2.25 Newmarket – Strong Power
George Scott's speedball caught the eye in a strong-looking maiden.
He was a cracking second in the Brocklesby at Doncaster on debut and looked home and hosed with a furlong to run here.
But he was just caught late by a trio of Godolphin runners and had to settle for fourth. He is a winner in waiting, especially when he tackles 5f on a flat track.
A horse on the up ?
3.35 Newmarket – Beringer
Alan King's smart handicapper went into the notebook when a never-nearer third in the Lincoln.
He was weak in the betting (drifting out to 4-1 on course) and he only managed to win by a head, but in all honesty he was a comprehensive winner.
The handicapper can't hit him too hard for this victory and he looks capable of bagging a big handicap this year.
Big punt landed ?
1.50 Newmarket – Far Above

One firm offered odds of 8-1 for the colt last night, but that was quickly snapped up.
He cruised through the race and sent favourite backers home happy at odds of 11-8.
