Paul Pogba 'believes Jose Mourinho is trying to humiliate him' and using him as example to Manchester United flops

It is understood the French World Cup winner reckons he is being used as a scapegoat by The Special One.

He has started the last two games on the bench – against Arsenal and Fulham – after a poor performance at Southampton.

And he did not even come on against the Premier League's bottom club as the Red Devils won 4-1 at Old Trafford.

Pogba is reportedly unhappy with the treatment he is getting compared to his under-performing team-mates.

According to the Star, a Manchester United source said: "Paul is confused because he’s not the only one to have struggled to produce his best in recent weeks.

"But he feels like he’s been singled out for special treatment and been made an example of.

"It’s all a bit humiliating considering his status in the game."

Manchester United moved into sixth with the win over Claudio Ranieri's side but an Everton victory at home to Watford tonight would see them slip back to seventh.

Mourinho's men have already qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League and travel to Liverpool next Sunday.

So he is set to name a weakened side to take on Valencia at the Mestalla on Wednesday night – and Pogba will come back in.

Even a strong performance from the £89million midfielder may not be enough to earn a starting spot at Anfield due to Mourinho's ongoing frustrations.

But The Special One is confident Pogba will step up and deliver.

He said: "He has the potential to be a fantastic player. He has to play with the same mentality as the team is playing.

"Against Valencia he is going to start and he is going to have a fantastic game and to show everyone how good he is."
