Patrick Peterson’s 10-year run with the Arizona Cardinals could be coming to an end next month, but the eight-time Pro Bowl cornerback isn’t ready to confirm that he expects to move on as a free agent.
Peterson shot down a Fansided report that he and the Cards “are parting ways barring a significant change in stances” over a new contract.
“There is no real update,” Peterson said on his “All Things Covered” podcast with former teammate Bryant McFadden, according to the team’s website. “It is just what you said it was: A dirty rumor. … Me and the team haven’t talked about contracts, we haven’t talked about parting ways.
“That’s just what it is, a dirty rumor. I don’t know where [the reporter] got his insight from, but that was a dirty rumor.”
The 30-year-old Peterson, whose 28 career interceptions included three in 2020, just completed the final season of a five-year contract worth $70 million with the Cards. They finished 8-8 and missed the playoffs for the fifth straight season.
