Newcastle training taken by U23 boss Redfearn with Bruce to be announced before the weekend – The Sun

NEWCASTLE training was taken by U23 coach Neil Redfearn as Steve Bruce edges closer to becoming permanent boss.

The players were put through their paces at the club's training centre by the former Leeds and Rotherham gaffer.

But it looks set to be a short spell leading the charges – Sheffield Wednesday boss Bruce has already held talks with the club.

And the boyhood Geordie could well be unveiled in a matter of HOURS.

Bruce could now even be able to attend the Toon's pre-season trip to the Far East visa issues permitting.

The ex-Manchester United captain held talks with Newcastle managing director Lee Charnley on Wednesday night.

Newcastle are prepared to pay £1million in compensation to land the ex-Aston Villa boss out of his one-year rolling deal at the Owls.

And they want boyhood fan Bruce in by the end of the week, when the team travel to China for the Premier League Asia Trophy.

The Geordie only took charge at Hillsborough in February but they have financial problems and are under a transfer embargo.
