GOOD EVENING FROM NORWAY
Welcome to our live coverage of the Europa League match between Molde and Arsenal.
Such European group games can often be an unhelpful distraction for Premier League sides, coming in the middle of an incredibly busy domestic schedule in the run-up to Christmas.
But for Arsenal, tonight could provide a much-needed confidence boost and the opportunity to find some scoring form.
Mikel Arteta’s men are almost eight hours without a goal from open play in the Premier League, and were second best all over the pitch in their 0-0 draw at Leeds on Sunday.
Their most notable contribution to the weekend’s contest was Pepe’s red card for a petulant headbutt. The Arsenal boss was furious with his player at full-time, but has refused to cast him aside and he could feature this evening.
Bukaya Saka was the Gunners’ best player at Elland Road despite playing just 36 minutes as a second half substitute, and was replaced himself in injury time as he succumbed to injury.
Willian also limped out of that game, and the pair miss out here along with Thomas Partey, Mohamed Elneny and Sead Kolasinac.
It’s three weeks since Arsenal defeated Molde 3-1 in London to ensure they sit top of Group B with a maximum of nine points. Providing they better Rapid Vienna’s result at Dundalk, the Gunners can seal early qualification to the knockout stages tonight.
Team news from Norway is imminent with the early kick-off scheduled for 5.55pm at the Aker Stadion.
