Darts hero Wayne Mardle joined in on the fun as his opponent with a crude nickname stole the show at an exhibition event.

The much-loved "Hawaii 501" regularly entertains darts fans on the exhibition circuit after calling time on his competitive days on the oche. Mardle has become just as iconic for his Sky Sports commentary in recent years, being the most charismatic superstar in his generation of darts.

Flamboyant Mardle made the darting arena his circus with vibrant Hawaiian shirts and dance moves during his heyday. But the sporting showman was upstaged by a young player donning the nickname "The Munter Hunter" at a charity night in Lancashire.

Mardle was taking on attendees at an event at the Old Leylands Pub to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support on Friday.

And the five-time world semi-finalist could not hide his amusement at one of his opponent's entertaining walk-ons.

The player with the cheeky nickname came on to a rousing rendition of Status Quo's "Rockin' All Over the World," a timeless darting classic and was lapped up by the local crowd.

The Old Leylands pub shared footage of the clip on Twitter, writing: "'The Munter Hunter' what a name and what a fun moment with everyone rocking all over the world last night with @Wayne501Mardle @TheRedRoseDarts."

Newly-launched Preston-based firm Red Rose Darts, who backed the event, added: "The winner of best walk-on of the night goes to the man with the most unique nickname in darts!”

There was also time for a brief interlude in another match later on as fans joined Mardle in singing the Neil Diamond favourite Sweet Caroline. And Mardle wrote: "A fun night!"
