Man Utd 'open talks with Bayern Munich over £43m-rated defender Niklas Sule'

BAYERN MUNICH'S Niklas Sule is on Manchester United’s radar, according to reports in Germany.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to add a central defender who can slot straight into his starting line-up next season.

Toby Alderweireld, Harry Maguire and Kalidou Koulibaly are all on United’s summer shopping list as they look to bridge the gap with Liverpool and Manchester City next season.

And German outlet Sport1 claim Solskjaer has made contact with the Bundesliga giants about the German international’s availability.

Sule, 23, moved to Bavaria from Hoffenheim in 2017 for £21million.

The defender has featured 43 times for Bayern and Germany after playing at last summer's World Cup.

Sule replaced Jerome Boateng, who was a United target last year in the Bayern side and has become a vital cog in their title challenge this term.

It is thought at least £43m would be the starting point for negotiations if Bayern were prepared to do business.

Matteo Darmian, Marco Rojo and Eric Bailly could all be on their way out of the club alongside club captain Antonio Valencia at the end of the campaign.

The potential arrival of Sule would put real pressure on Chris Smalling, Victor Lindelof and Phil Jones who at times have all struggled to convince.
