Liverpool close in on club-record £90m Jude Bellingham transfer as rivals focus on Dortmund team-mate Erling Haaland

LIVERPOOL hope to fly in under-the-radar and nab Dortmund starlet Jude Bellingham while Premier League rivals are distracted by Erling Haaland.

Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp has reportedly identified Bellingham as his key target next summer to bolster his aging midfield.

The 18-year-old is hardly an unknown quantity – he has already won 10 England caps and a starting role in the Dortmund squad.

And any move would likely cost the Reds a whopping club-record £90million.

But several of Liverpool’s rivals are thought to be intent on landing his team-mate Haaland instead.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Man City are understood to be tracking the prolific striker, who has a £64million release clause.

That would represent a bargain for the Norway international, who has 72 goals in 71 appearances since signing for Dortmund in January 2020.

Klopp is eager to reinforce a midfield where he main options include 31-year-old Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, 28.

Bellingham has caught the eye since his £25m move to the Bundesliga giants back in July 2020.

But he has found himself in hot water for comments he made in the wake of his side’s 3-2 defeat by arch-rivals Bayern Munich.

The ex-Birmingham youngster has been slapped with a £34k fine for accusing a referee of match fixing.

He said after a controversial penalty: "You give a referee that has match fixed before, the biggest game in Germany… What do you expect?"
