The Guelph Storm find themselves on a dangerous trend late in the season as they continue to struggle against teams below them in the standings.
The latest development came on Sunday when Guelph needed overtime to beat OHL bottom-dwellers, the Flint Firebirds, 5-4 at the Sleeman Centre.
Dmitri Samorukov buried the winner just over a minute into the extra frame.
Isaac Ratcliffe, Cedric Ralph, Liam Hawel and Dom Commisso also scored for the Storm, while Cody Morgan picked up a hat-trick for the Firebirds.
Nico Daws made 20 saves for Guelph before being ejected in the third period for butt-ending the Firebird’s Jake Durham.
