Frank Lampard’s Chelsea boss record BETTER than Jurgen Klopp’s start at Liverpool but it couldn't prevent Blues axe

HERE'S a statistic that's come out of the Blue – Frank Lampard's Chelsea management record is better than Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool start.

Lamps was in charge at Stamford Bridge for 84 matches before being sacked and replaced by Thomas Tuchel.

And his record compares favourably with Klopp's first 84 matches at Anfield.

Lampard's win rate and number of victories are better than the German's, who was hampered by the number of draws at the beginning of his reign.

Since then, Klopp has gone on to win the Champions League, World Club Cup and the Premier League title.

Lampard – well, we'll never know how that might have panned out at Chelsea.

Klopp has sympathy for the former Chelsea manager, calling his sacking by owner Roman Abramovich 'really harsh'.

The Reds boss said: “Obviously Mr Abramovich is not a patient man.

“What happened to Frank was really harsh because he is such a talented young manager and you could see last season how he was building.

“How many coaches have Chelsea had in the last 15 years?

“At Chelsea you are successful or you are out — that is the mantra — and I want nothing to do with that.”

Klopp spent seven years as boss of Borussia Dortmund before moving to Merseyside and before that seven years in charge of Mainz.

He added: “Plenty of times I was lucky with my clubs. I got the time because owners thought we did the right stuff and knew it takes time.

“In this world, we lose truth and faith too quick. Everything is great or the opposite. There are so many stages between and it’s a complex game."

Lampard's successor Tuchel started his Chelsea reign with a 0-0 draw against Wolves.
