After their defeat at Old Trafford, questions were being asked of their ability to beat rivals deemed to be in the 'big six'.
With Antonio Conte's Tottenham having pipped Arsenal to fourth spot last season, this victory will go a long way towards Mikel Arteta rewarding the fans for the pain of the previous season.
