Adnan Virk’s time with WWE is already over.
The former ESPN star and WWE “have mutually agreed to part ways,” WWE announced Tuesday, after Virk worked only seven episodes as the play-by-play voice of “Monday Night Raw.”
“Thanks to @WWE for a wonderful opportunity,” Virk, 42, wrote on Twitter. “The weekly travel along with my other jobs was a grind for me and my family. Am grateful to everyone with the company especially @WWEGraves and @ByronSaxton for being such fantastic teammates.”
Virk, an MLB Network voice who has had an accomplished career in sports broadcasting, never seemed to find his footing in WWE. He came across awkwardly at times, as evidenced by one particular call on the April 26 edition of Raw when Braun Strowman was going to run through people around the ring.
“Strowman going outside the ring. You know what this means, guys! Clear the tracks! We’re gonna need a bigger boat!”
His broadcasting partner Corey Graves responded, “What kind of boat do you know that operates on tracks, Virk?”
Virk, who was controversially fired from ESPN two years ago after leaking information to media, started with WWE on April 12, right after WrestleMania. Virk also hosts “The GM Shuffle” podcast with Mike Lombardi and is set to contribute to Dan Le Batard’s “Meadowlark Media” venture.
