  • MAURIZIO SARRI blocked Manchester United's summer pursuit of Juventus star Douglas Costa, says his agent.

The 28-year-old emerged as a top target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, but the move failed to materialise.

Agent Giovanni Branchini told the Daily Mail: “I sincerely say that Allegri and Sarri have never thought of letting him go.

“The interest of Manchester United was strong, a club that has always been interested in the Brazilian.

“It was not the only club but in England it was certainly the most active team on the trail of Douglas Costa.”

  • ALEXIS SANCHEZ is eyeing a permanent switch to Inter Milan at the end of the season, according to reports.

The Chilean finally ended his Manchester United nightmare by completing a loan deal at the Serie A giants last week.

In total, Sanchez scored just five times in 45 appearances for the Red Devils since his high-profile 2018 transfer from Arsenal.

And it appears United's feelings towards Sanchez remain mutual with the 30-year-old desperate not to make an Old Trafford return.

According to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, Sanchez is “dreaming” of completing a permanent move despite his Inter deal having no obligation to buy him outright.

  • ERIC BAILLY is hopeful of making an early return from injury, according to reports.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed in July that the defender had been ruled out “four or five months” after undergoing knee injury.

The Manchester United boss predicted that the 25-year-old would not be playing again until “around Christmas time”.

But according to ESPN, he is targeting an early comeback as his recovery is ahead of schedule.

It is reported that he is planning to return to training with the Red Devils in around two months time.

And that he is planning to be fit enough to make his comeback with the first-team after the November international break.

  • BETTING has been suspended on Edwin Van der Sar becoming the new Manchester United technical director.

The Dutchman has been linked with the position before and looks set to make the switch from Ajax where he is currently CEO.

  • MANCHESTER UNITED star Paul Pogba joined film legend Samuel L Jackson and other celebrities at a star-studded Lionel Richie concert in Monaco.

The France international came to say ‘Hello’ and was among 1,500 at the private concert.
