Prince Charles isn’t known as the “pampered prince” for nothing. The heir to the British throne has long been considered to be quite demanding, and it’s understandable when you consider some of the things he expects his staff to do. Prince Charles has to have things done a certain way, but his preferences cross the line from being picky to being pampered.
“The Prince of Wales has grown up in such a privileged lifestyle that he doesn’t have the mechanics to choose for himself anymore,” said one-time royal butler Paul Burrell in the Amazon documentary Serving the Royals: Inside the Firm (via Cheat Sheet). “Absolutely everything is done for him.”
Things that most people would normally do for themselves — or not do at all — are reportedly the responsibility of Charles’ staffers. According to Burrell, the royal even “has one of his servants squeeze one inch of toothpaste onto his toothbrush every morning.” Burrell also said that Prince Charles has his pajamas and shoelaces pressed each day so that they are free of wrinkles.
If Prince Charles' bath isn't perfect, everyone is 'scolded'
Burrell noted that Prince Charles has a very specific bath time routine that must be closely followed. “His underwear is folded in a certain way and his bath towel has to be placed in a certain fashion,” said Burrell. “When it comes to bathing the bath plug has to be in a certain position, the water temperature has to be just tepid, and only half full.”
If someone makes a mistake, they won’t be beheaded or banished to the Tower of London — but they will be “scolded.”
It seems bath time is only relaxing in royal households if you’re the one taking the bath. Queen Elizabeth is also said to have a strict bath time ritual — just one aspect of her insanely lavish life. According to the Daily Mail, a maid draws the queen’s bath while the queen relaxes with a morning cup of tea. The bath must “be exactly the right temperature” and can have “no more than seven inches of water.”
