It's time to channel your inner mixologist and dig out your finest crystal, because these delicious tipples are just the thing to get you into the Christmas spirit.
Whether you're hosting a glamorous and fabulous festive soirée, or just snuggling up at home with a Christmas movie there's nothing like a cocktail or two to toast the festive season.
What could be better than a boozy blend of chocolate and cherries? Our Cherry martini recipe couldn't be simpler to make and tastes divine. But if you fancy something a tad more delicate, then our Rose and Rhubarb gin cocktail is for you. Cheers and Merry Christmas!
Cherry martini
Ingredients
Serves 2
100ml whipping cream
50ml crème de cacao
25ml cherry brandy
25ml chocolate-flavoured Irish cream liqueur
10-15ml crème de cassis
10g grated dark chocolate
2 cherries, to serve
Method
- Fill two martini glasses with ice to chill.
- Whip the cream until lightly aerated, but still a pouring consistency. Set aside.
- Add ice to your cocktail shaker until it is three-quarters full.
- Add the crème de cacao, cherry brandy, the chocolate- flavoured Irish cream liqueur and the crème de cassis.
- Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until it is mixed and chilled well.
- Empty the ice from your glasses and strain the cocktail into them.
- Top each one with the whipped cream and the grated dark chocolate, then finish by garnishing each with a cherry.
Rose and rhubarb gin
Ingredients
Serves 2
120ml Hendrick’s gin
15ml lemon juice
15ml lime juice
40ml rhubarb liqueur
1 tsp of grenadine
1-2 drops of rose-water
Champagne, to top up
Rosemary, edible flowers, to serve
Method
- Put all the ingredients, except the champagne, rosemary and edible flowers, into a cocktail shaker and shake well.
- Open the shaker, fill with ice and shake well again, for as long as you can, at least a few minutes.
- Strain the cocktail into chilled glasses, then top up with the champagne.
- Serve garnished with the rosemary and edible flowers.
