It’s been another dramatic year for celebrity relationships and a number of high profile partnerships came to an end in 2021.
Some of the best-known couplings in showbiz including Kim Kardashian and Kanye West announced they would be parting ways for various reasons.
While some cited hectic schedules, others struggled to make long-distance work but whatever the reason, all these stars ended the year single.
Let’s take a look back at the biggest celebrity breakups of 2021…
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
In February, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West finally split up for good after reportedly 'growing apart'.
Kim and Kanye were married for seven years and share four children together.
The pair are parents to North, eight, Saint, five, Chicago, three, and two-year-old Psalm.
Kim filed for divorce asking for joint legal and physical custody of the children and Kanye is happy with it as they want to continue co-parenting together, according to TMZ.
The 41 year old and has since started dating Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson. While Kanye, 44, has is reportedly dating model Irina Shayk, 35.
Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid
Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid reportedly "split" after six years together after an incident which allegedly ended in the singer feuding with the model’s mother.
The former One Direction star is believed to have had an argument with Yolanda Hadid, with Zayn vehemently denying "striking" her.
In a statement, Zayn said he "agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner's who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago."
Rylan Clark and Dan Neal
Rylan Clark and his husband Dan Neal announced they would be divorcing, reportedly over differences regarding having children and Dan's TV career ambitions.
Rylan and his Big Brother star husband Dan got engaged in 2014, after first meeting on Big Brother's Big on the Side the year before.
The couple wed in November 2015 in a ceremony at Braxted Park in Essex which was kept very much out of the public eye.
However, they announced they were splitting in July after Rylan missed his Radio 2 show for seven consecutive weeks.
At the time, he released a statement that read: "Following reports about Dan and I spending time apart, I feel I have to speak out – as the way it is being reported is unfair."
"I have made a number of mistakes which I deeply regret and have inevitably led to the breakdown of our marriage I have taken time away from work as I am not in a good place at the moment and am seeking help. I am trying to take each day at a time and would like to thank everyone for their support and for respecting our privacy at this time."
Following his time away, Rylan admitted he "wasn't good" and "needed" the time off.
Anna Richardson and Sue Perkins
Former Great British Bake Off star Sue Perkins and Naked Attraction host Anna Richardson split in June.
The 51-year-old comedy star is believed to have called time on her seven-year-long romance with presenter Anna, 50.
A close friend of the couple said: "It’s really sad. Both Anna and Sue are devastated.
"We’re all hoping they can patch things up and sort out their differences but for now it appears to be all over," they added to The Sun.
Phoebe Dynevor and Pete Davidson
Bridgerton star Pheobe Dynevor reportedly ‘grew close’ to Ariana Grande’s ex-fiancée, US comedian Pete Davidson after they met while she was visiting New York.
Ariana Grande's ex, 27, was even thought to have travelled 3,300 miles from the US to the UK to spend time with Phoebe, 25.
However, the couple struggled with the long-distance and after five months together they decided to split.
Maura Higgins and Giovanni Pernice
Reality TV fans were thrilled when it was confirmed that Strictly pro Giovanni Pernice was dating Love Island star Maura Higgins.
Maura is yet to address the pair going their separate ways, but Giovanni spoke about it and insisted that there was ‘no wrongdoing’ from either party.
He wrote on Instagram in October: “Great relationships with great people can come to a natural end, this has been the case for me recently.
"There was absolutely no wrong-doing and this should be the end of any speculation."
