Passenger battered with metal pole and spat at while travelling on night bus

A woman was spat at and battered by a metal pole by a group of people as she travelled on the night bus.

CCTV has been released by the police which show two girls they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

Officers say there were four suspects and one hit the 29-year-old victim with a metal pole while two others spat at her.

The incident happened at about 2.30am on Friday, August 3 as the four suspects were travelling on a Route 344 bus on Battersea Park Road close to Latchmere Road.

As they were getting off the bus, they attacked the female passenger.

CCTV of two women police would like to speak to shows one smoking on the bus while the other was carrying a bright yellow JD sports bag. Both wear dresses and trainers in the images.

The unprovoked attack is being investigated by officers from the Roads and Transport Policing Command.

A statement on the Met Police website states: "They would like to hear from anyone who recognises either of the suspects from the CCTV stills or who was on the bus and is yet to come forward and speak with officers.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact officers via 101 quoting reference 773/3Aug. Alternatively they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

Two girls aged in their mid teens were interviewed in October in connection with the assault. They have since been released under investigation.
